Le Trung Tuan (born 1998, Ben Sung town, Nhu Thanh district, Thanh Hoa province) is a case that 4 years ago was discovered by Dan Tri newspaper and wrote an article calling for publication in the Charity section.
When Tuan was 11 years old, he suffered from a rare disease where a tumor grew right on his face. The tumor grew larger every day, filling Tuan’s skull, pushing Tuan’s eyes away. Tuan’s face was deformed, one ear was deaf, one eye was blurred, and his sense of smell was affected. People call Tuan the “faceless” boy.
Because the location of the tumor is where there are many nerves, thinking about surgery when the tumor is so large is unthinkable. Not only was the surgery very difficult, but the cost of the surgery was also extremely large, leaving Tuan’s family helpless after a period of treatment everywhere.
For the past 4 years, little boy Le Trung Tuan (Ben Sung town, Nhu Thanh district – Thanh Hoa) had to drop out of school, make friends with 4 walls and endure pain. Every few days blood spurts from the nose and mouth. The hope of living seems to have disappeared for me and my family.
However, after his situation was published in Dan Tri newspaper, many individuals, philanthropic organizations and teams of doctors at home and abroad have always tried to find ways to cure the poor boy. this career. Finally, in mid-July 2013, Tuan was successfully operated on by American tumor specialist McKay McKinnonekip and Professor Nguyen Thanh Liem to remove the tumor that had existed for 4 years on his face. The surgery was 100% sponsored by Vinmec International General Hospital along with organizations, corporations and individuals.
Not only did he successfully remove the tumor on his face, American tumor specialist McKay McKinnoekip continued to go to Vietnam three more times to perform surgery and reconstruct this poor boy’s face. So after 4 years and 4 surgeries, Tuan was revived. Today, after 8 years of illness, the boy “without a human face” happily stands in front of the mirror every day, looking at every detail of his eyes, nose, mouth and smiling at himself.
Mr. Le Trung Ha, Tuan’s father, said that two months ago, Tuan returned to Hanoi from Thanh Hoa to check his health after surgeries. Data from professors and doctors show that Tuan’s senses are recovering normally. Vision cannot be restored 100% like a healthy person, but developments are in a positive direction. Tuan is 25 cm taller and weighs more than 50 kg.
“Doctor McKay Mc Kinnon, who directly operated on Tuan, said that it was this boy’s strength and bravery that forced him to return to Vietnam and help him in every way possible. Before, when my child was sick, I only hoped that I could have surgery to remove the tumor and continue to live, but now that I have regained an almost normal face, it is truly a miracle that before My family only dared to dream but never thought that one day my child would be like today” – Mr. Ha confided.
After so much time having to drop out of school to treat his illness, Tuan has now decided to stop going to high school, confiding to us that he only has a simple dream of opening a grocery store. in my own town to do business and support myself.
Tuan shared with us: “I really don’t know what to say to thank all the benefactors and doctors who helped me. Especially Dan Tri newspaper has been a bridge for doctors and philanthropists to reach me. I can live again and be revived today thanks to everyone’s kindness. I will try to live well to deserve what society has given me.”
