Sightings and stories of the legendary, yet elusive Otway Panther date back to the early 60s.

Victorian brothers Royce and Ben Chaffey claim to have spotted the beast and have the evidence to prove it.

The pair were on a walk northeast of Lorne near the Otway Ranges on Sunday morning when they stumbled across what they have described as a “big black panther”.

Royce Chaffey told Sunrise the big cat was jet black, at least 1.5 metres in length and thick, with a big jaw and head.

He claims to have watched the black predator prowl around the bushes before disappearing 10 seconds later after the pair attempted to take video footage.
